The processes by which your business operates on a daily basis have a direct influence on each individual in the company, from the entry level employee to the CEO.  Are these processes as efficient as they can be or how can your business become more efficient?

Analyzing your company's processes and making them more efficient is time-consuming laborious task. Therefore, the idea of process improvement might remain a fleeting thought that never even gets to the drawing board. There are however serious consequences to ignoring the inefficiencies within your organization; lost revenue by missing out on important opportunities; lost customers by not responding to their needs in a timely manner; lost employees who are fed up with trying to get things done in an ineffective work environment. Don't let your business be negatively impacted by these inefficiencies. If you don’t want your company to become stagnated, remove the inefficiency in your business.

If you find yourself making any of the following excuses it’s time for you to make a change.

1. There is no time to deal with improvements. We don’t take measures to remove business inefficiency right now because we don’t have time. Remember there is no “right time” to deal with inefficiency. You will always have other things to do rather than spending time in dealing with the inefficiency. But if you continue waiting for other tasks to be completed before thinking about improving your processes, the problem will never be resolved. Your business will continue operating with the same inefficient processes and you will never make any progress.

2. It’s not in the budget. Your business's inefficiencies will end up costing much more in time, labor, lost opportunities and mistakes in the long run than will fronting the cost of improvement.

3. Resistance to change. It’s human nature to be fearful of change. Readjusting to new procedures requires time and effort, but doing the same old thing just because "it’s the way we've always done it" isn't efficient. Accepting your inefficiencies and embracing the need to make positive changes is the first step to improving your organization's efficiency.

4. We can get by the way it is. Without making any changes your business might survive, but it will not be competitive in an era where customers expect faster service and personal interaction. With inefficient working processes, your company will be unable to compete with a growing number of global competitors. If your organization is bogged down with outdated systems and archaic workflows, you are bound to fall behind the competition.

Document capture is the first step in automating your business processes and improving your organizations efficiency.  A product like iCapture will improve your businesses’ paper and workflow processes.
